Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
These itchy lumps are driving me crazy. I have had them for over six months now. They started as a few on my legs, but now they are everywhere, including my arms, back, and even my neck. They are hard, darker than my skin, and itch so badly that I scratch until they bleed. My primary doctor said it is "prurigo nodularis," but the treatments have not been working. I also have chronic hepatitis C, and I am wondering if that is related, especially since my liver numbers have been worse lately. The itching is constant, and it is affecting my sleep and concentration at work. What could be causing this, and what treatments actually work? Is it curable, or am I stuck with it forever?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
Prurigo nodularis is a chronic skin condition often associated with intense itching and nodules. It can be linked to underlying conditions such as hepatitis C, which might be contributing to your symptoms. Managing prurigo nodularis can be challenging, and treatments may include topical steroids, antihistamines, or immunosuppressants. It is essential to address any underlying conditions, such as hepatitis C, to help manage the symptoms.
I hope this has helped you.
Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.
Thank you.
