Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

I am 38 years old, as is my wife. We recently returned from a 14-day holiday. Around four days ago, we noticed bite marks on our bodies. Initially, we attributed them to mosquitoes, but we have visited the place 10 times before without experiencing mosquito issues. We are now considering the possibility of bed bugs. My foot has become swollen, and my wife has experienced swelling in her leg as well. Do you have any insights or advice?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed the photos (attachments removed to protect patient’s identity). Given that both of you have developed these lesions, it could potentially be due to bug bites. I suggest you apply topical Calamine lotion to the affected areas. You can also take antihistamines like tablet Cetirizine, both in the morning and at night, to help with any itching or discomfort. If you experience pain or fever, you can consider taking analgesics like tablet Ibuprofen after having a meal. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and take the medicines with their consent.

Please keep an eye on the situation. If the issue resolves, that is great. However, if the symptoms persist or if new lesions appear in different areas, it would be advisable to consult your doctor for a more thorough examination and appropriate management. Additionally, consider the possibility of scabies if the lesions are present on the wrists, groins, or web spaces between fingers, and discuss this with your doctor if needed.

Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

Alright, then it is probably not scabies if the lesions are not present on the wrists or groin areas, correct? The affected areas seem to be primarily the legs, feet, and the side of the back. Is it possible that bed bugs might be the cause? My wife believes that new lesions are still appearing, even though we are back home now.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The chances are lower if the lesions are not present in those specific areas. Please continue to observe the situation for a few more days.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
