What causes intermittent, electric shock-like, vaginal pain following condom breakage during sex?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had sex one month back but now my female partner is suffering from pain in her vagina. We used protection but it broke. I also gave her Unwanted 72 medicine, but she is suffering from pain. The pain is not present at all times but sometimes she feels a current-like pain in her vagina for five to 10 minutes. Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I appreciate the confidence that you place in me for your healthcare consultation.

The pain can be due to the following reasons:

  1. Dryness due to infection, improper foreplay, dehydration, age factor, and hormonal imbalance. You can try the natural way by increasing foreplay which increases lubrication, or you can use lubricants such as glycerin with propylene glycol (KY Gel).
  2. Injury due to dryness, due to deep penetration in a few positions during sex.
  3. Local infection can also be a contributing factor. Kindly share a picture for confirmation.
  4. Vaginismus - Fear during sex causes muscles in the genital region to contract which can cause pain in both partners. For this, you need to increase foreplay duration to reduce fear and gain comfort.
  5. Congenital abnormality.
  6. History of surgery in the genital region.
  7. Injury to the cervix by penis.
  8. Fibroids – You need to do an ultrasound abdomen to confirm the diagnosis.

Kindly share more details regarding the above issue, so we can work on the diagnosis and management.

I hope you had a pleasant experience at icliniq.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Can I use the KY gel? Is her condition anything serious? What type of infection is it? Please let me know.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Glad to have you back.

It can be a bacterial infection. You can use glycerin with propylene glycol (KY Gel) during sex from next time.

I hope this helps. Do get back if you have any further queries.

Thank you.
