Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 32-year-old female taking iron supplements for low ferritin for three months and was told to keep taking them by a general practitioner. I switched to a new brand a week ago and now experiencing symptoms of a metallic taste in my mouth, dizziness, and palpitations for some time. This happened 15 minutes after taking the iron supplements yesterday. The doctor says the symptoms are not related to iron tablets but I want a second opinion. Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
This is probably gastritis related to iron supplements. It is mostly related to iron supplements only. You can change your iron supplements to the previous brand. Also, you can take iron supplements after food in order to minimize the symptoms.
You should avoid a fatty, oily, and spicy diet. Do some walks after having food instead of taking a rest. Have regular sleep habits and avoid stress. Take lots of green leafy vegetables, and fruits. You can take a tablet of Pan DSR 40 mg (Pantoprazole+Domperidone) or Esomeprazole Domperidone combination before breakfast, whenever your symptoms are severe for a day or two.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you for consulting me.
