What does it mean to have diarrhea and vomiting at the same time?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing severe vomiting and diarrhea for the past few days. I feel nauseous and lightheaded also. What to do?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query.

I suggest you start taking electrolytic fluids (ORS) for the replenishment of your lost fluids in diarrhea and vomiting. Please go to the local clinic immediately cause a high amount of fluid loss would be dangerous. They might start intravenous fluids.

It seems you might be suffering from an intestinal infection such as food poisoning.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.
