Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
After having unprotected sex, two to three hours later, I started to have abnormal heat in my anus, and between my testicles and anus, I took Ceftriaxone, but it did not help. What can I do?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
Regarding sexually transmitted infection (STI), it is important to follow up with a doctor. Ceftriaxone is a common antibiotic used to treat certain STIs, such as chlamydia and gonorrhea, but it may not be effective against all types of STIs. The symptoms you are describing could be a sign of an STI, such as rectal chlamydia or gonorrhea, or they could be due to another condition, such as an anal fissure or hemorrhoids. Your healthcare provider can perform a physical exam and diagnostic tests to determine the cause of your symptoms and recommend appropriate treatment. If you have any ongoing symptoms or concerns, it is best to seek medical care as soon as possible to prevent any potential complications. The specific treatment for your symptoms will depend on the underlying cause.
1. If you have an STI, your healthcare provider may prescribe antibiotics or other medications to treat the infection. For example, Azithromycin, Doxycycline, or Erythromycin may be used to treat chlamydia, while Ceftriaxone or Cefixime may be used to treat gonorrhea.
2. If you have an anal fissure, your healthcare provider may recommend measures to help relieve pain and promote healing, such as stool softeners, fiber supplements, and sitz baths. For hemorrhoids, treatments may include over-the-counter medications, such as creams or suppositories.
3. Lifestyle changes, such as increasing fiber intake and staying hydrated. It is important to follow your healthcare provider's instructions carefully and complete the full treatment course, even if your symptoms improve before the medication is finished.
4. This will help ensure that the infection is fully resolved and prevent any potential complications.
I hope I have cleared all your doubts.
Thank you.
