Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I need your advice about Tezspire (Tezepelumab) for my severe asthma. I am 29 and have been hospitalized four times this year despite using every inhaler. My allergist recommended Tezspire, but my insurance denied it twice, saying I need to “fail” more treatments first. I am scared. How many times must I almost die before they approve it? My condition has made working and exercising impossible. Oral steroids cause severe side effects like insomnia, mood changes, and facial swelling. I read that Tezspire is not specifically for allergic asthma, but mine is triggered by dust and pollen. Would it still help me? The co-pay assistance program seems complicated, and I am overwhelmed by the paperwork. Is Tezspire worth fighting for, or are there other options? My breathing is so poor I can not walk up one flight of stairs without my rescue inhaler. I am desperate for relief.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to iCliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Tezspire (Tezepelumab) targets thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), which is involved in multiple inflammatory pathways. It is suitable for various types of asthma, including allergic asthma. Given your frequent hospitalizations and poor response to other treatments, Tezspire could potentially provide significant relief. Insurance denials can be frustrating. You might consider appealing the decision with support from your allergist, emphasizing the severity of your condition and the lack of alternatives. Co-pay assistance programs can be complex, but patient advocacy groups or your healthcare provider's office might help navigate the paperwork.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
