What causes a confusion about sexuality?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 27-year-old female and I am confused about my sexuality. I had one serious boyfriend and after we broke up, I never liked anyone else. The sex life was okay and I was more emotionally attached. I never masturbate to males. It is always females that I fantasize about. But in reality I despise the touch of women even accidentally. I was turned on once or twice by females in life but never acted upon it. I want to stay heterosexual. These confusions are extremely disturbing. Please help me.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Most of the studies say that each person gets attracted to the same sex once in life. Some act upon it and some ignore it. In your case, the same sexual attraction became more after your break up if I am not wrong. This is absolutely normal. When we break up, we develop somewhat hatred kind of feeling with the opposite sex which itself brings us closer to same-sex persons. If we keep thinking about it, we will go more deep into it and will get more confused. So just forget whatever happened, keep yourself busy at work, and spend time with family and friends. I am sure after some time you will get the heterosexual state back.

I hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
