Patient's Query

I am a 18-year-old boy who has developed a habit of masturbation over the past five years. I have attempted to control this excessive habit for the past three years but have been unsuccessful. I have tried to abstain from it for four to five days without masturbation but then again due to erotic thought, I could not control the urge. Is it due to some hormonal problem or some disorder in my body? I searched on the internet for medicines to overcome my habit and I came across ayurvedic medicines Delphinium staphisagria and Ustilago M but I am unsure that those will help me. Kindly suggest me some medication to control my masturbatory addiction. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern. Firstly, I would like to inform you that masturbating two to three times a week is considered normal and healthy and completely stopping masturbation is not necessary, as it is a natural and normal part of human sexuality. However, if you feel that your frequency of masturbation is excessive and you want to reduce it, the I suggest you follow the instructions mentioned below:

  1. Identify the underlying causes of excessive masturbation. It could be boredom, loneliness, stress, or excessive exposure to pornography. Addressing these factors can help reduce the frequency.
  2. Keep yourself engaged in various activities, both academic and extracurricular, to keep your mind occupied and avoid boredom. Find hobbies or interests that you enjoy and focus on them.
  3. Discover activities that make you feel good about yourself and bring a sense of fulfillment. Set personal goals and motivate yourself to achieve them. For example, if you enjoy exercising, continue with your gym routine and make it a passion.
  4. Seek support from friends and family. Consider joining a gym or participating in group activities with your friends, as spending time outside and socializing can distract you from the urge to masturbate.

I would suggest you challenge yourself to abstain from masturbation for a period of ten days while keeping yourself busy and engaged when sexual thoughts arise. There are no medications specifically designed to control or suppress masturbation. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
