Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 23 years old and married six months ago. My husband does not touch me even if we are in private and we had intercourse just four times for the last six months. He does not show any interest during sex.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. For a newly married couple, sex at least once a day for the initial months is normal. So having had just 4 times, that too mechanical sex, means something needs to be evaluated. A few possibilities are:

  1. He has serious hormonal problems. Uge to have sex, be it male or female is due to testosterone hormone. This is released in response to brain hormones. Have his FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone) blood levels and serum testosterone levels checked. If they are low, will need medications or injections. If they are normal- may be severe mental or physical stress, altering hormone levels.
  2. Psychological aversion to sex may be a bad experience or abuse in childhood.
  3. Does he get an erection when seeing sex scenes or are you touching his private parts?
  4. If the testis has lost the ability to produce testosterone or testis atrophy. This can be seen in blood tests.
  5. Sexual orientation- does he have an attraction to other males?
  6. Does he have a good healthy male body? I mean the built, muscular, body, and facial hair growth, sound masculine or is he slightly feminine? This also could be a congenital lack of male hormones.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
