Patient's Query
Hello Doctor,
I have been experiencing some unusual and concerning reactions to my compounded Semaglutide injections lately. I am 32 years old and have been using compounded Semaglutide once a week for the past five months to support weight management. I decided to start this treatment. However, more recently, I have developed severe abdominal pain and unusual visual disturbances after my injections. Blood test results from last week showed low potassium levels (3.1 millimoles per liter), which could be a side effect of compounded Semaglutide. I have attempted to contact the compounding pharmacy, but they rarely respond with clear or complete answers. Despite the savings, I have noticed that the appearance of the solution varies from month to month, which raises concerns about its consistency and quality. Given these developments, I am unsure whether I should discontinue the compounded Semaglutide immediately or switch to the brand-name formulation. I would appreciate professional guidance on how to proceed safely.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to iCliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I completely understand your concerns regarding the compounded Semaglutide. Severe abdominal pain, visual disturbances, and low potassium levels are serious symptoms that should not be overlooked. The inconsistency in the appearance of the compounded solution and the compounding pharmacy’s lack of responsiveness are additional warning signs that warrant immediate attention. Given these factors, it may be safer to discontinue the use of compounded Semaglutide right away and consult your healthcare provider about transitioning to the brand-name version.Although the brand-name medication is more expensive, it is regulated by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and manufactured under strict quality controls. This ensures consistency in dosage and formulation, significantly reducing the risk of adverse reactions. It is importance to use medications from a reliable and thoroughly vetted source.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you
