Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I do not know if this fits in the psychiatry field but I have a mental illness called schizophrenia at 26 years, and I want to become a 'morning person.' Despite keeping alarm, I struggle to wake up early and often go back to sleep. My schedule is inconsistent. I wake up around 11 am after sleeping at around 11-12 in the night. I would like to seek advice to follow healthy sleep habits and a better morning routine, considering my mental health and medications which include tablets Xeplion (Paliperidone Palmitate), Amisulpride, and Trazodone. Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
Thank you for sharing your concerns with a psychiatrist. I understand that you are currently on a high dose of medications, which may be contributing to your deep sleep.
If you have been stable for a considerable time, you can discuss with your doctor the possibility of gradually reducing the medication dosage. This might help you to sleep less and enable you to wake up in the morning more easily.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.
Thank you.
