Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My two-year-old son was diagnosed with ringworm infection in the pubic area last week. I have been using hydrocortisone cream and it has cleared the majority. But he has come out with other rash-type spots or marks on his body for which we were given clotrimazole but not seeing any improvement I am not sure whether it is ringworm or not. Kindly suggest. He is taking Piriton for allergies, a Salamol inhaler, a Clenil modulite inhaler, and Mometasone for eczema.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and understand your concern. As per the information provided, the rash in the pubic area got better with hydrocortisone which goes in favor of it not being a ringworm infection. As per the photograph (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), it looks to be more allergic with few lesions and a bit confusing with prickly heat or fungal infection. He also has eczema, so there is more possibility of an allergic condition. I would like to know:
1. Is there anyone else in the family having similar rashes?
2. Is it itchy?
3. Is it only on one side or all over the body?
Meanwhile, I suggest you to use:
1. Hydrocortisone (Chlorocresol and Cetostearyl) cream mixed with Clotrimazole (Cetostearyl alcohol and Benzyl alcohol) three times a day for three days.
2. Syrup Claritin (Micronized loratadine) 3.5 ml once daily for five days.
I hope you find this helpful. Thank you.
