Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a small spot above my armpit that is a circle of widely spaced raised pinkish bumps. They are not itchy, scaly, or dry. They do not hurt. They almost look like small cystic pimples. I have tried to squeeze them to see if they pop, but they did not. I noticed them maybe two weeks ago. They have not spread to other areas. I do not think it is ringworm. The circle is maybe an inch in diameter, and some of the bumps are closer together than others.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand that you are concerned. But the attached photographs (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity) are quite blurry. If possible, please send well-focused and well-lit pictures and multiple. As for the attached pictures, and as you described it, I think this may be Granuloma annulare, a granulomatous skin condition in which there are semi-annulare, or annulare raised plaques margin consists of tiny raised papules or bumps with central clearing. Sometimes it can be generalized. This is more common in females and usually self-limiting. If it does not improve, topical steroids or Calcineurin inhibitors can be tried. This condition is not itchy or painful. Also more common in diabetes. Are you a diabetic? Please send some clear and well-focused pictures to confirm the diagnosis. Take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for the reply doctor. When I saw some pictures of that skin condition, it did look similar to what I have. Here is another photo with better lighting.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com

Thanks for sharing the pictures (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). Yes, it looks like granuloma annulare only. Although it is self-limiting and asymptomatic, it can last for weeks and sometimes months also. So you apply the following topical medication twice a day for two weeks and then follow-up. Use Elocon (Mometasone furoate 0.1%) cream. For the prescription, you can contact the icliniq support team, and they will help you out. Take care.
