What could be done to control recurrent infections?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 34-year-old male and have been having recurrent infections. I have been falling sick every month, with a cough, cold, and sometimes headaches. I have tried many antibiotics, along with cough and cold medication. But still, these symptoms keep recurring, but they are mild now. Is my immune system poor? Or am I resistant to antibiotics? What to do and how to find out if my body has become resistant to antibiotics? Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for stopping by!

I am here to provide expert opinion on your medical issues.

Antibiotic resistance is very common nowadays because of the excessive use of antibiotics. We can test if you are resistant to antibiotics simply by doing a resistance test. It includes a culture and sensitivity test of urine and you will be able to find which antibiotics you are resistant to. They will show a list of resistant medicines. If you are resistant, you should not use them. Instead, you can use other sensitive antibiotics. I suggest you do a test and send the reports to help you better.

I hope this information will help you. In case of further queries, please revert.

Thank you.
