Can bumps on the labia in young girls be HPV or HSV?

Hi doctor,

I am a 25-year-old girl with 5.4 feet height and weighs 1075.8 pounds. I found some bumps on my labia. I did not have unprotected sex before. Can it be HPV or HSV, or is it just normal? Please help.

I can understand your concern.

I have checked the given picture (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). If there was unprotected sex, it is necessary to think of sexually transmitted infections. I suggest doing the following tests:

1. TPHA (Treponema pallidum hemagglutination test).

2. HPV DNA PCR test (Human papillomavirus with genotyping polymerase chain reaction).

3. Herpes simplex virus (HSV) one and two IgG (immunoglobulin G) tests.

4. Herpes simplex virus (HSV) one and two IgM (immunoglobulin G) serum tests.

5. Chlamydia trachomatis IgG.

6. HIV one and two antibodies screening tests.

7. HbsAg (hepatitis B surface antigen).

8. Urine complete test.

If not, it can be a simple bacterial infection. You can use ointment T Bact (Mupirocin 2 percent w/w) for local application and Doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for five days. If there is itching, you need to think of a fungal infection. Ointment Candid B (antifungal) is used for local application and for itching, the tablet Cetzine (Cetirizine 10 mg) is used once a night. Consult your doctor and take the medicines accordingly. I also suggest to:

1. Make sure you wash your genitalia twice a day, morning and night, and use normal water, not cold or hot water.

2. Avoid using heavy-pH soap.
