Hello doctor,
My diagnosis of intermediate-risk prostate cancer came after a multiparametric MRI and a biopsy. My urologist mentioned these tests are highly accurate. I am 72. Should I trust the results, or would additional testing, like a PET scan, provide more information? What is the next step after diagnosis?

PSMA PET (prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography) is a diagnostic tool used to detect prostate cancer anywhere in the body. It detects cellular changes in organs and tissues earlier than MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). But once your case is already diagnosed and confirmed by both biopsy and MRI, there is no need to waste your time on PET, as it will not add anything to the diagnosis of your condition.
