How can a teenager get rid of pimples on his face?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 15 years old. And as a teenager, I am so worried about my face and confidence because of these pimples. I am using Eskinol pimple fighting deep cleanser, but it cannot lighten my marks. I had used toothpaste too, the non-gel one, and garlic to my face. Was that effective? How can I get rid of these pimples?

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Acne vulgaris is a common skin problem in adolescents and adults. It involves pilosebaceous follicles or oil glands and is therefore seen to include areas where oil glands are dense, like the face, chest, back, and upper arms are common sites of involvement. I presume you have grade one to two acne since you have not sent any pictures. You can start using Clindamycin, Nicotinamide during day time over pimples, and Benzoyl peroxide 3.5 % gel at night hour over the whole face for around two to three months. Consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and take medications with their consent. For cleaning your face, you can do a facewash twice daily. You have to do certain dietary restrictions like not taking oily spicy food, junk food, milk products, non-vegetarian foods, and using lots of water which hydrates your skin.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
