Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have swelling on my hand and bones on the backside, and my nerves also look swollen. I also have pain and difficulty in doing work. I consulted an orthopedic, and he advised an RA test in which my ESR is 29 mm/hr.
Please advise.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Your ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) is 29 mm/hr. This does not suggest too much as regards rheumatoid arthritis. Probable causes for your condition are seronegative RA (rheumatoid arthritis), hyperuricemia, and allergy. I suggest you need other investigations like:
1. Anti-CCP (cyclic citrullinated peptide).
2. Serum uric acid.
3. CBC (complete blood count).
4. CRP (C-reactive protein).
The results of these tests are important to diagnose. I suggest you take the following medicines:
1. Tablet Ibuprofen 400 mg twice daily for ten days after food.
2. Tablet Rabeprazole 20 mg twice daily for ten days before food.
3. Tablet Shelcal (calcium and vitamin D3) 500 mg twice daily for 30 days before food.
4. Tablet vitamin D 60k units once daily for ten days and then once a month for 11 months.
Take these tablets only if you are not allergic to them. Do not take these tablets if you have bronchial asthma. This professional advice provided by me stands subject to the actual examination of reports and images and is entirely basedon inputs provided to me. It should be correlated with clinical findings.
I hope this helps.
Follow up with test results.
Regards.
