How to get rid of itching and skin rash?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I stayed in a hostel and as far as I know, due to bed bugs, my skin started having an itching sensation. If I rub in that area rashes start appearing. My skin is quite sensitive from the beginning. Can you suggest what can I do to get rid of this itching and skin rash?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I do understand your concern.

It appears to be an itch mite hypersensitivity reaction (scabies). I would suggest the following treatment:

  1. Apply 5 percent Permethrin cream at night on day one and day seven (apply below the neck, all over the body, contact period 8 to 12 hours).
  2. Apply at night on day one and day seven (wash off the next morning).
  3. Repeat in the next week also.
  4. Apply Fucibet (Fusidic acid and Betamethasone) cream at night for 10 days.
  5. Use Permite BB (Elestab) bar or Cetrimide soap for bath for two months.
  6. Tablet Atarax (Hydroxyzine) 10 mg twice daily after food for seven days.
  7. Avoid scratching and rubbing of lesions.
  8. Maintain proper hygiene as hygiene plays a very important role.
  9. Wash clothes separately in hot water. Dry inside out in the sun and iron them.
  10. Change pillows, bed linens, and sheets every alternate day.
  11. Avoid sharing personal belongings.

Follow up after two months.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Regards.
