Patient's Query

Hello,

I am 25 years old and living with HIV. I only have access to ART therapy and my viral load is undetectable however, I took blood tests and they are not looking fine. As well as I lost weight since my infection. I just need someone to take a look at my blood tests and give me advice.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

Thank you for reaching out to us for help. Based on the information you provided (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), it is clear that you are concerned about your recent blood test results and weight loss despite being on antiretroviral therapy (ART). While your viral load is undetectable, which is a good sign that your ART is working effectively to suppress the virus, it is essential to monitor other health indicators as well to ensure your overall well-being. Here are some suggestions based on your concerns:

  1. Consult with your healthcare provider: It is essential to discuss your recent blood test results and weight loss with your healthcare provider. They can provide you with a more detailed interpretation of your test results and offer personalized advice on how to manage your health.

  2. Adhere strictly to your ART regimen: Make sure you are taking your ART medication as prescribed and at the right time. Missing doses or taking them incorrectly can lead to treatment failure and the development of drug-resistant strains of HIV, which can make it more challenging to manage the virus.

  3. Maintain a healthy diet: Losing weight can be a sign of underlying health issues, such as malnutrition or infections, which can worsen your HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) symptoms and complications. Make sure you are eating a balanced diet that includes a variety of nutrient-dense foods to help maintain a healthy weight and support your immune system's health.

  4. Exercise regularly: Regular exercise can help improve your overall health and well-being by strengthening your muscles, bones, and immune system. However, it is essential to avoid high-impact exercises that can put too much strain on your body, especially if you are experiencing weight loss.

  5. Manage stress: Chronic stress can weaken your immune system and make it more challenging to manage your HIV symptoms and complications. Consider practicing stress-reduction techniques, such as meditation, deep breathing, or yoga, to help manage stress levels.

  6. Remember, managing HIV requires a holistic approach that considers all aspects of your health and well-being. By working closely with your healthcare provider, following your ART regimen, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and managing stress, you can help ensure the best possible health outcomes.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
