Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 45 year old female. My relative has recently been diagnosed with HER2-negative breast cancer. May I know the most effective treatment options for HER2-negative breast cancer? How does HER2-negative status affect the overall prognosis?
How is treatment typically tailored for HER2-negative breast cancer patients? What are the common side effects faced with the treatments for HER2-negative breast cancer, and how can they be managed?
What kind of follow-up care and monitoring should be expected after the initial treatment?
Please help.
Hello,
I can understand your concern.
HER-2/neu-negative breast cancer is better than HER-2/neu-positive breast cancer. If her 2 HER2-negative breast cancer patients are hormone receptor-positive, then the prognosis is usually good depending upon the stage. The treatment of her 2 HER2-negative breast cancers will depend on the stage of the cancer and the status of hormones. Most patients may need chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation therapy. Hormone therapy is also needed depending upon the status of hormones. Follow-up is needed after completion of treatment every three months for two years and then every six months.
I hope this helps.
