Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been noticing that my gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) symptoms flare up whenever I drink coffee or alcohol, even in small amounts. I have been avoiding these triggers for months, but now my symptoms seem to occur even after eating bland foods. I have also been getting frequent headaches and muscle cramps. Could these symptoms be related to GERD medications like proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), or is there something else going on? Should I consider revising my treatment plan?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
The side effects of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) include headache, rash, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, flatulence, constipation, and diarrhea.
Your complaints are mostly related to PPIs. Speak to your doctor before you stop taking it, as with a sudden stop, symptoms will come back. He can reduce the dose gradually or switch to another line of treatment.
Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
