Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had a gum flap on the upper teeth. The dentist suggested that I had an aggressive form of periodontitis. My teeth have become weaker now and more susceptible to damage. Now, my gums have receded and my teeth look longer.
Also, my lower molar teeth have deep pockets. The dentist suggested scaling, root planning, and flap surgery for all my teeth. I am worried. What to do?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query.
No, this will not damage anything. The condition of your teeth and gum is not esthetic, and that is why a flap is needed.
Basically, flap surgery is done to clean gums and teeth from the inside. It strengthens the teeth and gum. It is safe and follow-up is needed to see the condition of your gums. Just do as instructed by the dentist.
Wish you good health and happiness.
Hope it helps.
Thanks and regards.
