What are the chances of pregnancy if one uses a condom and pull-out method during sex?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Every time we have sex while using condoms, he pulls out and does not ejaculate inside me. But he did cum outside the vagina while the condoms were still on. Could I get pregnant? Should I be relieved as I have always been safe using that method? Suggest some tips to make sure that condoms are not going to break or have a hole or tear.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Using condoms is a good method of contraception. However, during the process of wearing a condom, there are some steps you need to follow strictly. In such a scenario, that might result in a burst or tear of the condom. During the act of intercourse, there should be sufficient lubrication for penetration of the male genital organs. By using the pull-out method while wearing the condom, your partner wants more time to end climax. While following this method, if the condom is not torn then obviously you are on the safer side without being pregnant. Since you are 22 years old, it is better to use protection like a condom to prevent pregnancy.

I hope this helps.

Follow up if you have more doubts.

Kind regards.
