Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 34-year-old female. Over the past five days, I have been experiencing symptoms such as dryness, discomfort, and occasional blurred vision. I believe it is time to seek professional guidance on managing this condition. The symptoms of dry eyes have become more noticeable and bothersome recently, impacting my daily activities, especially when I am working on a computer or spending time in environments with air conditioning or heating. I have observed that my eyes appear redder than usual, and I occasionally experience itching and burning sensations. What are the common causes and factors contributing to dry eyes, and how can we determine the specific triggers in my case? Additionally, what are the available treatment options for managing dry eyes, including both over-the-counter and prescription treatments? Which ones do you believe would be most suitable for my situation?
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Dry eyes are multifactorial in nature. In your case, modifications such as reducing screen time, implementing the 20-20-20 rule while working on screens, decreasing the use of air conditioning, using an air humidifier, increasing blinking, and using eye shields while sleeping may be helpful. Additionally, consider using over-the-counter lubricant eye drops frequently, such as Carboxymethylcellulose 1 % and Sodium hyaluronate 0.1 %, applied four to six times a day. Also, use an ointment containing Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose 2 % at bedtime. Please follow up in two months.
I hope your queries are resolved and any further queries are welcome.
Thank you.
