This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from irregular menstruation for 10 years, and the bleeding occurs for only one or two days. I have taken a Ceftriaxone tablet and am concerned as my periods have been delayed for three days this month. Kindly suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern

    • Get your hormonal profile (follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, estrogens, day 21 progesterone, and thyroid function test) checked.
    • Get an ultrasound scan of the pelvis.
    • What is the color of your period?
    • Did anything significant occur before the change in your period duration?
There are several causes of delay in the menstrual period. Hormonal imbalance and intra-uterine adhesions are the most common causes. If the period has been delayed for more than a week, or if the flow is for one or two days, it is abnormal and should be investigated.I suggest you follow the below-mentioned instructions.Kindly answer the questions below to guide you better.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
