Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
What are my chances of being pregnant? I had sex last month and had to take the I-pill. Later, I had some bleeding. There were only spots on my pants. My period was due this month, and I still do not have my period yet.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
How are you doing?
If you had bleeding after taking the pill, then your chances of pregnancy are very low. The pill is the hormone Levonorgestrel, the same hormone produced by the body every month after ovulation. It is a high dose. So when this pill is taken, the inner lining of the uterus suddenly increases, making it very unfavorable for a possible pregnancy to occur. As it is a single dose,it does not have the strength to stand, and it falls off. So after I take the pill, you will start bleeding within seven to ten days. So it will take another month after this bleeding for the thickness to be enough to have your next period. How can you have two periods of bleeding in the same month? Just wait until next month for your next period. As I said, the chance of pregnancy is low, as if the bleeding this month was not like a normal period, then you will have to check for pregnancy now, as the I-pill would have failed. If the bleeding was as normal as a normal period, then you are safe.
I hope I have answered your question.
