What is the appropriate management of a Bartholin's cyst?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a lump on the surface of my vaginal opening, and after searching online, it seems to be a Bartholin's cyst. What should I do, and what treatment should I seek? I have never consulted an gynecologist before. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern. Based on the information you provided, it seems you have a Bartholin's cyst. To address this issue, I suggest you visit a nearby gynecology clinic where they will perform a procedure called marsupialization of the cyst. After the procedure, I suggest you follow this medication regimen:

  1. Tablet of Acetaminophen 500 mg three times a day.
  2. Tablet of Piroxicam 40 mg twice a day.
  3. Tablet containing Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid 625 mg twice a day.
  4. Tablet of vitamin C 1000 mg three times a day.

I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
