What causes weight loss, itching, and a feeling of worms in the anal region despite taking albendazole?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been suffering from weakness, weight loss, and itching in the anal region, and I also can feel worms moving under the skin, near the ear and eye. I have taken five tablets of Albendazole 400 mg, but nothing has changed. Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to Icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
Drastic weight loss can occur due to infection or due to hyperthyroidism. I suggest you follow the below-mentioned instructions.
- Get a thyroid function test(TFT), complete blood count (CBC), and liver function test (LFT) done.
- Take a tablet of levocetirizine (levocetirizine dihydrochloride) once daily at night for five days.
- Consume plenty of fluids to reduce the severity of the condition.
- Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take the medication with their consent.
I would also like to know the answers to the following questions.
- Is there any difficulty in passing stool?
- Is there any blood in the stool?
Kindly get reviewed with the reports and answers to the questions to guide you further.
I hope this information will help you.
Thank you.
