What are the possible causes of acne in a 19-year-old?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 19 years old, and I have had a long-term problem with acne since the age of 16, and the acne suddenly disappears in summer. I spent three months at sea, and my skin was almost completely clean. When I got home, my skin got bad again, and it was again getting worse with time. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Regarding your symptoms, please use the following to protect and treat your skin from acne vulgaris. Apply Topical 2 % Resorcinol (Benzenediol), or 20 % Azelaic acid, or 5 % Dapsone. If your symptoms persist, schedule another appointment for follow-up via chat, phone, or video consultation.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
