Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I recently had heavy menstrual bleeding. Initially, I thought it is my regular menstruation. However, the bleeding becomes heavier after a week. My doctor recommended tablet Primolut Nor 10 mg for five days to stop the bleeding. The bleeding stopped on the first day of taking the medicine. On the second day, I had light bleeding. There was no bleeding after that. It has been two days since I stopped taking the medicine, and have noticed spotting. Is this normal? Do I need to worry? Please advise.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Withdrawal bleeding is normal after stopping progesterone tablets like tablet Primolut Nor (Norethisterone 5 mg). There was no need to take the pill to stop the bleeding just for five days, because it may stop the bleeding when you are taking this medicine but once you stop this withdrawal bleeding can occur. But there is nothing to worry about, as the spotting will stop within two to five days.

I hope this information will help you. Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
