Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had unprotected sex in the middle of this month, four days before having my expected periods. I took the contraceptive pill within 12 hours. Two days after, I started bleeding, which was one day before my expected period day. My bleeding was not that heavy; later that day, my bleeding stopped, and I noticed vaginal discharge and very light bleeding. Is it a sign of pregnancy or not? Kindly help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
As your periods are regular, there is no chance of pregnancy in your case. Withdrawal bleeding is only a side effect of contraceptive pills, which happens due to the sudden withdrawal of hormones from the body, so it does not necessarily happen to everyone. The menstrual irregularity seen could be due to hormonal imbalance and will be back to normal by the time of the next period. As you took the pill on time, there is minimal chance of pregnancy in your case.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
