Can a protein-rich diet promote muscle growth?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have an issue with the size and shape of my arms. They are very thin around my wrists.

I would like to know if there is anything that can enlarge it. I am 59 years old, of good health, my weight is about 116 lbs, and my height is 5.3 feet.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

For thin arms, you can go to the gym regularly to enhance muscle growth.

A protein-rich diet should be taken to provide nutrition to muscles.

If your thin arm is particularly in one portion, then an EMG-like (electromyography) investigation can be done for further workup.

I hope this will help you.

Thank you and take care.
