Can I take Multivitamins to overcome fatigue and weakness?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 35-year-old male and recently started suffering from fatigue. I felt some tiredness throughout the day earlier as well, but it has been intensified for the past one to two weeks despite taking a light meal and a good night's rest. I feel lethargic more after a meal. I think it could be due to the redundant lifestyle during the pandemic and work from home culture. I am living like a couch potato. I am thinking of trying a Multivitamin for the same. Please recommend something that will help. I have tried A to Z and Revital in the past, but there is no significant improvement. Please recommend something gentle for the stomach as I suffer from occasional constipation and have allergic rhinitis (a lot of sneezing), for which I take Duonase to spray once every two days, but sneezing is still there. I am vegan and do not drink or smoke. Kindly give your opinion

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I suspect there is an iron deficiency. For weakness, I would suggest you take syrup Dexorange (Ferrous ammonium citrate) 5 ml every night before sleeping. Take for two weeks. Constipation is due to a low fiber diet. For that, I would suggest you take a high-fiber diet, such as banana, papaya, orange and green vegetables. All these foods help to make stool softer and also really help in constipation. Try to drink water in good quantity throughout the day, so it will help to keep you hydrated, and you will not face constipation. For constipation, please take syrup Lactulose 15 ml before sleeping whenever you are constipated. Since when do you have constipation? Is there any pain or bleeding while passing the stool? I suggest you do an iron profile, CBC (complete blood count), TFT (thyroid function test). Please answer the questions so that I will guide you accordingly. Thank you.
