Patient's Query

Hello doctor.

I am 18 years old and have had red, itchy bumps on my vulva for months. It started off as a single bump, but with time, I started getting two at once, and now I just had to deal with a few of them. They are itchy and unpleasant, and I am tired of them. I think it is hair folliculitis, but I am not sure. What can I do to prevent this? I went to see a gynecologist, but the ointment she prescribed Canex V did not show any effect.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your worry. I request you to share a picture of the afflicted region as well as a medical history, if there was unprotected intercourse, one should consider sexually transmitted illnesses. So I recommend that you take the following tests:

  1. Tpha; Treponema pallidum hemagglutination.

  2. HPV DNA PCR (polymerase chain reaction of the DNA) test.

  3. Herpes simplex virus (HSV) one and two IgG.

  4. Herpes simplex virus (HSV) one and two IgM, serum.

  5. Chlamydia trachomatis IgG.

  6. HIV one and two antibodies, screening test.

  7. HBsAg.

  8. Urine complete

Otherwise, it might be a simple bacterial infection. For 5 days, use T. coli (antibiotic) ointment locally and take a tablet Doxycycline 100 mg (antibiotic) twice a day. If there is irritation, consider a fungal infection: ointment Candid B (antifungal) for topical treatment, and a pill for itching. Once a night, take Cetirizine (antihistamine). Wash your private parts twice a day, in the morning and at night, using regular water, avoid cold or hot water. Avoid using high-pH soap.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
