Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have bumps on my vagina for which I did a Pap smear test, and it came back abnormal ascus. I am awaiting further results; however, I wonder if these bumps on my vagina are genital warts. I am attaching the pictures kindly review.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and understand your concern. I have examined the pictures attached (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). From the pictures and the symptoms mentioned, I suggest it is a genital wart. It is a contagious diseases, caused by human papillomavirus. Generally, two-thirds of individuals who have sexual contact with a partner with Condyloma acuminata (genital warts) develop lesions within three months. Oral, laryngeal, or tracheal mucosal lesions are transferred by oral-genital contact; anal intercourse in both males and females can transfer lesions in the perianal area. To rule out the cause of immunosuppression specific investigation like HBsAg (hepatitis B surface antigen), anti-HCV (antibodies against hepatitis C virus ), HIV (human immunosuppressive virus), and VDRL (venereal disease research laboratory) tests need to be done. The treatment plan must include radiofrequency cautery, chemical cautery [30 % TCA (Trichloroacetic acid)], CO2 laser, or topical Imiquimod applications are the options. Thank you.
