Hi doctor,
I do not know whether I have human immunodeficiency virus infection (HIV). I met with my husband. I have got a vaginal infection that lasts only for three days with minimal discharge, with no odor, white, or clear color gone by itself. This time I got itching in my vagina, and now it has also gone without any treatment. What is happening to me? I had a relationship with my boyfriend, but he never ejaculated in me. It is almost six months to the one-year gap between new relationships. It could be HIV.

HIV can be transmitted by sexual contact (anal, vaginal, or oral), through blood transfusion, exchange of contaminated syringes or needles, or through vertical transmission from an HIV-infected mother to her child during pregnancy, delivery or through breast milk. The only way to know if you have HIV or not is to get tested for it. The presence of vaginal infection increases the risk of acquisition of HIV. I suggest you get tested for HIV by a rapid HIV antibody test at any accredited lab. The result is available shortly, in just 20 to 30 minutes.
