Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 25 years old and unmarried. My periods are regular till now. Last week I had unprotected sex with my friend and did not have any issues at that time. But since yesterday I am facing severe itching in my vaginal area. I have mild pain while peeing too. There was a brownish vaginal discharge once in the morning, which smelled different. These symptoms are new and I am afraid. Did I catch any serious infection? Please help me find the cause and how to manage the symptoms.

Thank you.

Hello,

Thank you for stopping by!

I am here to provide expert opinions on your medical issues.

I can understand your concern. Share a picture of the affected area.

If you have a doubt regarding your friend then we need to think of sexually transmitted infection. Kindly get the following investigations done:

  1. TPHA (Treponema pallidum hemagglutination).
  2. HPV DNA PCR test (human papillomavirus polymerase chain reaction).
  3. HSV (Herpes simplex virus) 1 and 2 IgG, IgM, and serum.
  4. Chlamydia trachomatis IgG.
  5. HIV 1 and 2 antibody screening test.
  6. HBsAg test (surface antigen of the hepatitis B virus).
  7. Urine complete.

If not, it can be a simple bacterial infection.

Consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and take medications after their consent.

  1. Apply ointment T-Bact (Mupirocin) for local application and Doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for five days.
  2. If there is itching, you need to think of a fungal infection. Apply ointment Candid-B (Beclometasone and Clotrimazole) and take a tablet of Cetzin (Cetirizine) once a night
  3. Make sure you wash your genitalia twice a day in the morning and night with normal water and not cold or hot water.
  4. Do not use a heavy pH soap.

I hope you had a pleasant experience with icliniq.

I will always be available for you in case you have any queries.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
