Will birth control pills cause vaginal dryness and discomfort?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had my birth control implant inserted three weeks ago, my doctor told me not to have unprotected sexual intercourse for seven days, and I did not. My partner and I had sexual intercourse, and he has no diseases, neither do I, but I can hardly lube up, which causes frustration during sexual intercourse. Still, it was fine; he ejaculated, and now I have discharge, and I know I cannot get pregnant because of the implant, but I was wondering about me being able to lube up and the discharge.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Current symptoms may be due to infection following friction injuries during sexual intercourse. I would advise you to consume plenty of water daily. Take tablet Pause MF (Tranexamic acid and Mefenamic acid), one tablet twice a day, and the tablet Zathrin (Azithromycin) 250 mg, one tablet twice a day.

All the tablets mentioned above should be taken for three days.

Use some lubrication like vaseline during sexual intercourse. I would also suggest you spend more time in foreplay to get wet.
