Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 50 years old female. I have vaginal inflammation and redness after using the trimmer by the next day. I have swelling and pain in my vaginal lower area.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com

As per the history and image provided (attachment removed to protect patient's identity), it is vulvovaginitis which has developed post trimming due to the presence of sensitive skin, which may most probably occur due to sudden hormone changes in the body, which make the area sensitive. Sensitivity of the vagina may also occur following allergic reactions as well. Trimmer or razor used for hair removal may cause minor abrasions and sometimes redness due to an allergy to the razor or trimmer blades. My advice Candid CL vaginal gel (Clotrimazole and Clindamycin vaginal gel). Use the gel daily at night (at bedtime) for one week in a lying down position using an applicator available with the product by inserting it into the vagina and around it. Make sure to clean your hands and vaginal area well before the maneuver. Cold compresses twice daily may be used to reduce the redness. Warm salt water may be used to clean the area once daily. It may cause mild stinging initially but is beneficial in avoiding superinfections of the area. Avoid frequent trimming or shaving of the area. Close shaving or trimming should also be avoided. Continue Azithromycin tablet for three days. Make sure the razor or trimmer blades are clean and sterile. In the case of razors, disposable razors or frequent changing of razor blades are advised. V- wash solution to be used for cleaning the vaginal area once daily. One cap full of the solution has to be diluted with three capfuls of water and cleaned well. In case of any discharges noticed within the next one week, kindly make sure to consult a doctor in person as a swab test of the discharge will help detect any underlying infections, and the right treatment for the discharge may be advised based on the report. Do not worry. Kindly follow the advice. And do follow up in case of further queries. Hope I could be of help. Get well soon. Stay happy, healthy, and safe.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply. You advised the application of Candid CL vaginal gel. However, it is available as a Candid CL vaginal suppository only. Only Clotrimazole is available as Gel. So I inserted the Suppository but faced a problem at night of severe itching, which resolved a bit with the application of Megaheal silver nanogel. Kindly advise what Gel is to be used instead of the Suppository.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

As advised, you may require using a Suppository since the redness is in the vulval area, which is outside the vaginal area. Therefore, you may use the Clotrimazole gel available in your country. There might be slight irritation and burning sensation, which is common and will subside in a few minutes. Also, continue with the cold compresses and V-wash solution for washing the area well. In case of excessive irritation or pain, Mupirocin (Mupirocin Calcium) cream may be used once daily on the area. As I have mentioned earlier, in case of any discharge or secretion, please consult a doctor in person for further investigations through swab testing and treatment, depending on the report of the same. Hope I could solve your query. Stay happy, healthy, and safe. Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
