What causes the frequent urge to urinate and abdominal pain?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

During intercourse, I feel the urge to urinate frequently, and I occasionally have lower abdominal pain. What should I do about it? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

This could be due to frequent urination, a urinary tract infection, or diabetes. We can probably rule out diabetes since you are young with low risk. Another possibility is that you have a urinary tract infections (UTI).

PID (pelvic inflammatory disease) should be considered if you have lower abdominal discomfort. You may need specific simple tests to diagnose urinary tract infection. To avoid UTIs (urinary tract infections), Please follow:

1. Drink cranberry juice.

2. Anything that appears to irritate your bladder should be avoided. These may include caffeine drinks, artificial sweeteners, and spicy.

3. Drink plenty of water to prevent constipation, but avoid drinking water immediately before bedtime, because it may trigger midnight urination.

I hope that you get your answer.

Please let me know if you need any help.

Thank you.
