Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 23-year-old and weighing 94.8 pounds and I think I might have a urinary tract infection. I began experiencing symptoms two months ago, including pain while urinating and during sexual intercourse. Currently, I am also dealing with diarrhea, and I did not have my period this month. Around a month ago, I received treatment for chlamydia and a fungal infection. I was prescribed a high dose of antibiotics, and I am hesitant to take antibiotics again. Can you kindly suggest an alternative treatment? Additionally, I have allergies. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern. Based on the information you provided, it seems that you might have a urinary tract infection (UTI) and diarrhea. The UTI symptoms appear to arise from an infection in your urogenital tract, possibly due to friction injuries during intercourse. To aid in complete healing, I suggest you refrain from all sexual activities, including masturbation, for a few weeks. I also suggest you take the below mention medications:

  1. Take a tablet of Itraconazole 200 mg once a day.
  2. Use Saccharomyces boulardii sachet once a day.
  3. Take a tablet of Cefuroxime 250 mg twice a day.
  4. Take 15 ml Potassium Citrate solution in 200 ml water three times a day.

Continue this regimen for three days. These medications will help alleviate your UTI and diarrhea symptoms. Stay Hydrated and ensure you are drinking plenty of water daily. For addressing your menstrual concerns, kindly provide me with the following details:

  1. The date of your last menstrual period.
  2. Dates of any instances of unprotected intercourse.
  3. Dates emergency contraceptive pills were taken, if taken.

This information will aid me to offer you appropriate guidance regarding your menstrual issues. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
