Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been suffering from a UTI for the last six months. All my tests are normal, but the symptoms are not going away.
Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
You should have uploaded the last urine routine examination and culture reports. Do you have any medical comorbidities like diabetes? If a UTI (urinary tract infection) persists for a long time, it should be investigated thoroughly. So, get a KUB ultrasound (kidney, ureter, and bladder) with PVR (post-void residual urine). Is there a possibility of prostatitis?
Long-term UTI indicates some underlying pathology like immunocompromised status, diabetes, tuberculosis, hidden infection in the prostate or epididymis, or stone disease. Antibiotic must be continued according to culture sensitivity reports.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you,
I have attached all my test reports.
Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
This is more than a year-old report (attachment removed to protect patient identity), but you told me that your symptoms started six months back. Please attach new reports for the routine urine examination, culture, and complete blood count.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you,
I have attached the recent reports. Please go through them.
Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
This culture report (attachment removed to protect patient identity) shows Klebsiella infection, so I suggest you try taking antibiotics according to the sensitivity report. Ciprofloxacin, Nitrofurantoin, or any other antibiotic can be taken according to the test report.
What symptoms are you having? Do a complete blood count and a CT scan of the KUB region to find out the focus of infection. Also, repeat a urine routine examination after a week of starting the antibiotic.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you,
My urine has a lot of bubbles, smells bad, and is yellow. I have a burning sensation when peeing. Please suggest some medicines, as my married life and sexual life are getting affected.
Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I suggest you try an IV (intravenous) antibiotic, Ceftriaxone, with Amikacin for five days, then repeat a routine urine examination. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and start taking the medicine with their consent. Please get the CT scan done. Nothing will happen to your sexual life; you need to recover from this infection first.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.

Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
What precautions should be taken while taking this injection?
Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
The injection should be preceded by a test dose to rule out any allergy. Drink four to five liters of water daily. Rest until the infection subsides. If there is a fever, I suggest taking Paracetamol. And if you have burning while peeing, then try taking Pyridium (Phenazopyridine hydrochloride).
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
Patient's Query

Thank you,
So, it means there is no need to worry while taking this injection, right?

No, there are no such issues. You should feel an improvement in 48 to 72 hours.
I hope this helps you.

Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.

There are occasional pus cells and no growth in the culture. So, the infection is treated.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you,
But I still have a burning sensation during urination. I also took Pyridium, but it did not help. What can I do?
Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
You told me that you already underwent cystoscopy, which was clear. I suggest you get atransrectal ultrasound (TRUS) of the prostate to rule out any hidden infection in the prostate and a CT KUB (kidney, urethra, bladder) region to rule out any source of infection in the upper urinary tract.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I will do all the tests you suggested. And will get back with the reports.
Kindly advise.
Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
