Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am married and have no baby yet. A year ago, for the first time, I noticed blood in urine and painful urination. After two days of intercourse, I face this problem. When I was 14 years old, I suffered from hematuria. I took Pause, Mix 500 and Alkasol for relief. Please tell me the treatment now.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
It is a urinary tract infection, mostly cystitis. It occurs due to unhygienic peri genital condition. In order to prevent UTI keep your perineal area clean like cleaning after intercourse and daily cleaning of the area during bathing. For the cure, you will need an antibiotic for a week. First, you should get urine routine and microscopy test done to confirm the infection. You should also get an ultrasound done to confirm cystitis and rule out other causes of bleeding. Then you will need antibiotic like tablet Nitrofurantoin 100 mg twice a day for a week along with antacid like tablet Pantoprazole before breakfast once a day for a week. I suggest you syrup Cital or Alkasol (Disodium hydrogen citrate) two teaspoon in half glass of water thrice a day for pain. Also, for pain I suggest antispasmodic tablet Tolterodine 2 mg whenever needed for up to two times a day, especially if syrup is not helping. Also, you should drink plenty of water.
