Hello doctor,
My urologist diagnosed me with nonspecific urethritis and prescribed a five-day antibiotic course, which helped and stopped the burning sensation and sensitive to touch feeling on my penile tip. My urine culture and blood test came out fine, but now the penile discharge remains. It is way less than before it remains. I am a few days away from completing 14 days since I was infected. Is it normal for discharge to stay that long? And this discharge sticks to the skin and it instantly dries, so it kept on sticking to my meatus and sealing it. So my meatus is now getting closed all the time, and I have to spray it with water or open it with my finger gently before urinating because it is not stuck that hard. Please help.

Urethritis was treated with antibiotics for five days and now still has persistent pus discharging from the urethra. Urine culture came negative. First, what is supposed to be done is do a pus swab for culture and wait for the result to see the bacteria. We can then target it with the proper antibiotic rather than trying this antibiotic, which will create resistance. Urethritis is a common problem, and adequate antibiotics for seven days should be enough. Please follow up with a pus swab for culture.

The doctor has done many tests. Ultrasound, bladder scan, and urine flow were fine. But my only worry is since the antibiotics worked, the discharge is way less now. How long should I wait for it to go away completely by itself? And is it common that this discharge sticks to the skin and the meatus and seals it? And should I stay away from masturbation in the meantime until everything goes back to normal? Because I have been masturbating during this period.

Actually, after the treatment is finished, there should not be discharged. And the discharge will be sticky like this only. The fate of this will either go away by itself with time or cause chronic infection, which is more difficult to treat. I know it got less with the antibiotic you took, but it is not completely cured. Therefore you should diagnose the infection from the pus by pus swab for the culture that test will give us an idea about the type of bacteria and the sensitive antibiotics to it. Then we can choose proper medication. In my opinion, this persists during the treatment. You can masturbate but do not have sexual intercourse.

So it turned out to be gonorrhea after the swab and I got proper antibiotics for that the pus and the infection are gone because I did multiple urine culture tests and penile swabs afterward and it was all clean and good, but the doctor saw that I need cystoscopy as my urine flow was weak and my bladder still had urine which indicated that bladder was not fully emptied. So I did it and it was if there was narrowing or anything it will show, the doctor said I have an enlarged prostate and gave me alpha-blockers and natural pills (no chemicals in them) for erection improvement and all. So I finished one month of them and then the doc said I do not need alpha blockers since my urine is better and my bladder was only containing a little amount of urine which was normal, and I continued on Gentaplex (red and blue capsule) for 2 more months. But I get these sting sensation which is not painful from time to time (once a day or twice a week) or itchiness or sometimes when I have sexual thoughts. I get this pre-ejaculate clear liquid more than what I normally got before all these medical conditions I had at the beginning of this year. I went to the doctor and he did a physical exam of the penis and another urine culture and everything was good. And he kept on saying you are fine and need to stop worrying. I do worry a lot by nature but because this is my genital health and it makes me 10 times more worried about everything I feel even if it was little because I wanna get married and have kids and a future that’s why am always worried. So does this feeling I have on my penis normal with gentaplex pills (I have a few days left to finish the capsules course) and should I expect it to be gone after finishing the course?

STD must be completely done other than swabbing. Like blood tests for hepatitis B, C then syphilis, HSV, and HIV for both partners. Treatment for gonococcal infection is done and no need to worry more about it. Your doctor already checked and found there is no stricture and the enlarged prostate if any in your case will be due to prostatitis. If residual symptoms are there will be due to prostatitis and you will need to do semen for culture 48 hours after completing the antibiotics.

The partner was just checked for STD viruses for work purposes so I tried not to worry about it because it was a one-time thing here and never again but I guess routine work tests do not include bacterial infections. I also told the doctor if I should do any other blood tests for viruses or anything he said everything was done. And I did this antibiotic course for 10 days after the cystoscopy so it was a long time ago, why should I do this semen culture thing? I just read about it and now I am more afraid that you are suggesting it. Is my fertility in danger? I made sure to treat this infection as soon as I get it, how can it harm me like that? Can you please answer me about the capsules I am taking and whether it is causing this occasional sting and itching sometimes or not? I ay worried now when my mentality was trying to take away that fear.

If the doctor said other tests were done and it was normal then it is okay do not need to do std tests again. Point number 2 is if you still have symptoms of sting sensation it might be prostatitis which does not go with 10 days of antibiotics that needs long treatment of 4 to 6 weeks depending on culture results dear hence I asked if symptoms persist after antibiotics of 10 days you should do semen culture 48 hours at least after antibiotics finished. The third point is fertility it will not be affected by infections or prostatitis do not worry at all about it. And your doctor as well says there is nothing to worry about just need to check if you have an infection I want to treat it. The fourth point is the capsule ur taking now those capsules do not have the side effect of causing a sting sensation while passing urine. I am almost certain that you need no more treatment but to make sure you are completely clear is the semen culture. In the future, if you want to have sex you can use a condom to protect yourself better.

Clarification and for your time doctor, I will have a discussion with my doctor about the remaining symptoms of prostatitis and hopefully get the proper treatment for it and get my normal health back in urinating and all. I was just tired mentally of hospital appointments for the last few months and from the scary stuff I read on the internet.
