Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 25-year-old female; I am 5'7" tall, and I weigh 48 kg which is quite less and it worries me if I am healthy for my sexual life or fertility as I will be getting married next month. I have a normal regular period cycle of 30 to 31 days but sometimes I get heavy periods or clots. I have not visited any gynecologist. I just worry if my underweight will affect my fertility or will it cause any health issues when I wish to have a child.
Please advise.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your concerns in detail and will surely help you out.
Being underweight is not going to cause problems in sex life. Your sex life will be healthy. But it can be more beneficial if you try to build up your weight and at least be in the normal BMI (body mass index) range. Eat proteins like eggs, non-vegetarian food, cottage cheese. Have almonds, cashews and, milk on a regular basis. This is going to build your body and will also help you grow immunity. This immunity will fight infections for your child during your pregnancy whenever you conceive.
Being underweight might cause some problems during pregnancy. I would suggest planning pregnancy after some time once you have improved your health. The baby is always the reflection of the mother.
I hope this helps.
Kindly revert in case of further queries.
Thank you.
