Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your ultrasound of left breast (attachment removed to protect patient identity) shows a well defined oval shaped hypoechoic lesion measuring approximately 1x0.7x0.4 cm, likely at 12 o’clock position. It is well capsulated with smooth margins and horizontally oriented and shows distal acoustic enhancement suggestive of benign etiology likely a fibroadenoma - BI-RADS 2 (breast imaging reporting and data system) category. No surrounding changes like fat stranding. Ductal dilatation is seen to suggest infection or invasive etiology. The investigation to be done is FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) for confirmation if clinically indicated.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Could this be an early diagnosis of cancer? Would rather know now, as I am scheduled for breast implants on Thursday.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The features look really benign. However, an ultrasound-guided FNAC test is recommended for confirmation where they draw a few cells from this lesion and do the microscopic evaluation to look up for any malignant cells. That would be definitive and you will not have any doubts. Appearance-wise the lesion looks benign. No signs of invasive nature are seen at present.
