This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 28-year-old female. I have a leg ulcer, and I am taking treatment with honey and later using Procaine Penicillin powder on the surface, but I do not use Hydrogen peroxide and Eusol lotion to clean it. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. I would like you to answer a few questions to determine the cause of a leg ulcer. Is it a single ulcer or multiple ulcers? Do you have it on one leg or both? Whether the ulcer remains or comes and goes? Do you have any history of trauma?

I suggest:

1) Fusibet (Betamethasone and Fusidic Acid) ointment twice daily.

2) Antibiotics like Augmentin (Amoxicillin, Clavulanate potassium) once daily for five days.

3) If the size of the ulcer is big, I would suggest you get the regular dressing done twice daily.

4) Do not apply honey. It contains many bacteria, the ulcer may get infected, and it may worsen.

I hope you get well soon. Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
