Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 32 and have just been diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. The doctors said it is aggressive and high-risk, and it is in stage 2. I am single and hope to have kids someday, but I am scared. The treatment seems tough will I still be able to have children? How will this affect my future and career? What are my treatment options, and is it possible to return to normal life? How can I handle the stress and anxiety from this diagnosis?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
I understand your concerns. Triple-negative breast cancer is aggressive, and if lymph nodes are involved, it means the cancer has spread. Treatment typically includes chemotherapy to shrink the tumor, followed by surgery (either breast-conserving surgery with radiation or a mastectomy with lymph node clearance). Immunotherapy is also effective, and for stage 2, the recurrence rate is about 40 percent in the first three years.
If you are considering pregnancy after treatment, consult with your oncologist, breast surgeon, and obstetrician. Women on tamoxifen should stop it at least three months before trying to conceive. Pregnancy does not affect long-term survival, but it is generally advised to wait at least two years after treatment to reduce recurrence risk. Timing should depend on your treatment plan and prognosis.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
